Meet Reed
I am a proud trans woman, full of joy and resilience. I settle myself in books, music, and spirit, resonating as both a nerdy pisces and a punk rock witch. I wade into waters of creativity with friends and community, and bring life to fantasy worlds to be shared. I was once asked what I would do if all of my problems in the world were solved and I responded, “I would probably read more books and try to solve the problems of fictional characters.”
I am a former educator and advocate in sexual violence prevention and participate in trauma work for supporting survivors of domestic violence. I am passionate about harm reduction, queer and trans liberation, black lives matter, sexual liberation, and restorative & transformative justice practices. I believe in supporting and helping others in their mental health journey, working to overcome the most difficult obstacles and learning to understand themselves more deeply.
I studied Integral Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies and I am certified in Sex Therapy from CIIS AASECT Certification program. I love the Hakomi style of therapy practice and trauma-informed care, and carry my own appreciation for the magic of imagery and visualization in how I describe the internal world.
I am a fierce advocate in trans care and am capable of supporting clients through gender affirming medical care and letter writing. My own therapy journey as a trans woman brought me to this practice, and though my hope is to support accessible care for other trans folx, I am deeply appreciative of the work I do with clients of all identities.
My Practice
Therapy with me is built in comfort and curiosity. It’s like coming into a warm cabin from a snowstorm, being wrapped in a soft cozy blanket, and taking your time to settle into where you are before we get into the deep parts of what brought you here. My therapy is without judgement and is collaborative in your comfort; we will always be trauma-informed in the space we create together. My clients say I'm easy to talk to because I make room for the magic in their lives, and leave space for the parts of ourselves that need tending to.
I became a therapist because of my own healing journey as a queer and trans person. I hold identity at the core of who we are, and understand the challenging work that can often be scary to do alone. We do not heal in isolation, and my goal as a therapist is to always support and uplift the growth of the people I work with.
I am a trans therapist and social justice advocate. What that means is I am committed to dismantling white supremacy and the systemic values it upholds. I hold positionality and privilege as a white person, as well as walk among the rebellious queer identity that challenges patriarchy. The intersection of my identities is how I lead in unsettling the land and systems of my privilege.
My practice exists and benefits from being on unceded Ramaytush Ohlone land. I commit to working towards rematriation.
